Chloé

Chloé, born in 1952 Paris by Egyptian-born Gaby Aghion, tossed stuffy couture out the window for prêt-à-porter pizzazz.

Named after a Daphnis and Chloe ballet, it’s all about free-spirited femininity—think flowy dresses that dance in the breeze. Gaby’s vision? Luxe but lived-in, for gals who brunch and bolt. Karl Lagerfeld’s ‘70s stint added boho swagger, while Phoebe Philo’s 2000s era brought It-bags like the Paddington. From Jackie O to today’s cool kids, Chloé’s soft silks and scalloped edges keep it dreamy yet cheeky. Now, with Chemena Kamali steering since 2023, it’s still the chic rebel’s go-to—because who says effortless can’t be extra?

Designing a dress like that, like a T-shirt, was very modern… it said, ‘I am carefree’.
